What a quiet week..

For some reason, I thought we were going to have such a great week that I needed to write about it in a blog. I couldn't have been more wrong!! The weather is crap and we are bored yet we still can't be bothered to do much.......

The village seems to be empty.....where has everybody gone?? Is there a special place to be at that I don't know about??

I just look forward to October when we start back on our Home Education trips. I didn't realise how much I would miss them!! I want to learn new stuff. My brain is bored. My son has just said that he is so bored that he might even do some Maths tomorrow. Now that proves he must be bored. I know it doesn't fit with the whole idea of autonomy, but if he wants to work then who am I to stop him....

The new era starts tomorrow!!!

Well, so much for a new era!! I was determined to write in my blog every day as we usually do so many things!! It has been a quiet few days for us with a trip to the dentist yesterday (which I hate) and needed some time to recover yesterday afternoon. I didn't like the numb feeling in my face for half of the day, but I soon missed it when it wore off and my tooth started hurting!!

Liam has been feeling sad again this week. It breaks my heart to see him like this but I don't know what I should do to take away his pain. He feels rejected and unwanted by some members of his family. I just constantly reassure him that he is loved and wanted by the family members who want him in their lives.

With regards to education, we've talk about lots of different subjects this week and I now feel I can be open and honest with him on a lot of topics. He has a very mature outlook on some things. I am helping him to deal with his emotions and am just letting him play and be creative. He is loving making things out of clay right now. Knex and magnetix are being used a lot too. He has a fantastic imagination and so many ideas. He was asking today about prototypes and his imagination was running wild. So, I expect he will be building something very soon.....

A new era

I have realised this last few days that I under estimate the amount of 'learning' we are actually doing each day as autonomous home educators. I have a diary which I write in every night to list the basics of what our day included. But I felt like this list was too basic and needed to be expanded on.

Some things that occur in every day life are fundamental to learning skills needed for everyday life. I missed out writing about conversations we had and how they lead to other interests.

So I thought that the best way to have a bigger and more detailed diary of events was to have a blog and start using some of the pictures we take every day.......and, here we are.
